The next meet-up will be on Wednesday 27 June 2018, 5:45pm – 9pm. All welcome. You can register here.
We’re excited to be based in the new Dogpatch Labs location in the CHQ Building, Custom House Quay.
As we mentioned at the last MeetUp, from now on sessions will be all about coding, not about presenting (don’t worry, we can do some of that too!).
• What we’ll do
Introduce new community opportunities, work on code and data for VacantHomes and Transparent Water, and network.
• What to bring
Tools of your trade – a laptop and a smile!
Following our last MeetUp we have made progress on a number of areas with our Transparent Water app and still need YOU to help us get it finished. We met with Irish Water, and hope they will consider partnering with us to help with the data provisioning, marketing the app etc., as other water companies have for the other participating Code Fors across Europe.
We need UI, API and backend developers, so please come along – we are getting organised and are developing both wireframes and documentation is now available.
If you think water is not important, consider this, whether it will materialise or not: as water becomes an increasingly precious commodity, Middle Eastern countries are planning to tow icebergs from Antarctica to the Middle East (see here and here).
The app we are currently developing – that YOU are developing – will help individuals and communities not only see their water in an understandable light, but Phase 2 will add capability to sample the water and upload this sample outcome, anywhere.
The Code for Ireland organising crew
The following are the MeetUp times for Code for Ireland, from May to November 2018 (18:00 to 21:00, at Dogpatch Labs):
- 27 June
We have had a series of events since the initial meetup at the end of November 2013. Attendees take active part in discussions, break into groups to brainstorm ideas and even start coding development there and then! Development activity takes place both at and between events. The scheduled events give you the opportunity to see what is going on, meet like-minded volunteers and get involved in whatever area you are interested in. We expect to continue regular events in Dublin. Given the positive engagement and participation we have had so far, we hope to establish chapters outside Dublin in the future. Notice of events are posted on this website. Be a frequent visitor!
